Before adventure began, he was very excited
On the footpath he was very frightened and thought he was to die
At the end, he was shaking, covered in sweat from heat and fear, and exhausted
Verb Pattern
Verb + to +infinitive: manage, decide, try, begin etc…
Ex: They managed to escape
Verb + -ING: enjoy, stop, finish, hate etc…

INFINITIVES
1. Infinitives are used to express purpose. They answer the question Why

It’s difficult to learn English
3. Infinitives are used after the question words who, what, where, how, etc..
Ex: show me what to do
4. Infinitives are after compounds something, nothing, nowhere, anybody, etc…
Ex: I`ve got nothing to do

Adjectives end in ed : often describe a person’s feeling or reactions
Adjectives end in ing : often describe the person or thing that provokes those feelings or reactions
