OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Hi, my name is Nguyen Thi Tra Nhan. I’m a student of Sai Gon University. I come from Binh Phuoc. I’m studying English literature. It’s about the famous playwright, poet, novel,…..such as: William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, Charles Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Emily Bronte. I like best is Shakespeare and his work, Romeo and Juliet: A romantic tragedy (written in 1597). I think, it’s a start-crossed lover. Do you think so?
Today, I would like to present the summary Romeo and Juliet of Shakespeare.
A story is of the
romantic love of
Romeo, belonging to the family of Montague, and Juliet, of the Capulet family,
both living in the
Italian city of Verona.
The affair has to be kept secret owing to the bitter hostility of the two families,

and only Juliet`s Nurse and Friar Laurence, who marries them, know of it.

Even so the affair is
not allowed to
Continue peacefully,
Juliet`s cousin Tybalt
provokes a fight which
leads not only to his
own death but to that
of Mercutio, friend of
Romeo and relative of
the Prince of Verona,
with the result that
Romeo is exiled from
the city.
Morever, Juliet`s father, in ignorance of his daughter`s secret marriage, proposes
to marry her off in haste
to a young nobleman, Paris. To enable her to escape this, Friar Laurence give Juliet
a potion which sends her into a profound sleep and causes her family to suppose her dead; The Friar design is that she shall be placed in the family burial vault, and that meanwhile a message is to be sent to Romeo directing him to come by night and steal her away.
However, by an accident the message is sent, and Romeo hears only of her death; he returns to Verona, but only to take poison and die by her side. A moment later, the effect of the potion passes away and Juliet recovers; She sees her lover dead beside her, Juliet then tries to take her own life by drinking from Romeo`s vial of poison, but it is empty. She tries again by kissing his lips - "I will kiss thy lips; Haply some poison yet doth hang on them."But again, she does not die. At last, she picks up Romeo`s dagger, and plunges it into her chest, falling dead beside her lover.
When the Capulets and Montagues
realize what their feud has done,
they vow to end their war. But it
is too late, as there "never was a
story of more woe Than this of
Juliet and her Romeo."
