A/ READING:
Passage 1 :
It’s Monday morning. It’s time for Tom to go to school . Classes begin at 7:40 .Tom is still in his room . His mother says , “Hurry Tom , you must be quick or you will be late .” “ Mum ! Where my pencil box ? Ican’t find it . I can’t go to school without my pencil box “ Tom cries .
Look at Tom’s room . What a mess ! His books are lying all over the room . His football socks are on the desk . A kite and some clothes are on his bed . Tom’s mother comes to help him . She asks Tom to put his books away and Tom’s pencil box is under the books on the floor . “ You must look after your things , Tom .” Mrs Brown says .
Passage 2 :
One day when Bob is on the way home from school , he sees the little bird at the foot of the the tree . It has fallen out of its nest .Bob takes the little bird up in his hand . He doesn’t know what to do with it , because the nest at the top of the tree . So Bob takes it home . He gives it good food and water , and put it in a cage . In a few months the bird grows big and strong , and it has fine long wings .One day Bob lets it out of the cage , and it flies away back to its home in the tree .
Passage 3 :
One day a crow find a piece of meat .She picks it up in her mouth and flies to a tall tree . She is just going to eat the meat when a fox sees her . He comes and stands under the tree and says ,” How pretty you are ! You must be the prettiest bird in the world “ . The crow is very pleased by these words . Then the fox speaks again .” I can see your pretty face but I have not heard you voice . Why don’t you sing a song ? “ . This makes the crow very happy.She opens her mouth and begins to sing . The fox picks up the meat at once and goes away with it . Kind words are not always as kind as they seem.
Passage 4 :
My name is Jane . My grandfather is very careless . He is very clever man , but he never remembers little things . April 27th is my birthday . My grandfather says to me ,” I’m going to your home , and give you a present “ .I’m very excited . I wait for him all day , but he doesn’t come , so I phone to him and ask why . He answers “ Sorry , I went to the other granddaughter’s house “ . What a careless grandfather ! .
Passage 5 :
“ Who is the first president of the United States ? “ the history teacher asks one of her students . The student thinks for a long time , but he doesn’t say anything. The teacher gets angry and shouts , “ George Washington “ .
The student begins to walk to his seat .
“ Come back !” the teacher says , “ I don’t tell you to go “ . The student says “ Oh , I’m sorry . I think you call the next student ! “
