1/ Traditional seaside holidays
Similarities:
Organized in the larger towns and cities.
Most of seaside holidays are organized in the summer.
The traditional seaside holidays soon became normal for families to spend a week or two every year at one of the seaside resort towns.
They have some hotels where richer people stay, but most families stay at boarding houses.(nhà trọ)
On the beach, the children make sandcastles and buy ice-creams, so on.

2. Modern holidays:
* Similarities:

Now, countries have a developing tourism (ngành du lịch) with a lot of attractive destinations (điểm hấp dẫn) for tourist.
- Most foreign holidays are packages(gói) holidays, in which transport and accommodation(chỗ ở) are booked(đặt) and paid for through a travel agent(đại lý du lịch).
- The number of tourists takes holidays abroad more and more increasing.
- Modern holidays are often booked for a long time in advance.
- The traditional types of holiday have become less popular.

3. Christmas and New Year
Similarities:
* Christmas:
- Christmas is placed in the church on 25/12.
- Most people usually prepare beforehand several weeks. They have a lot of things to do, for example: they will buy food, drinks and decorations(the Christmas tree with lights, various colored decorations). They prepare presents and put under the Christmas tree.
People organize a lot of activities: sending the gifts, cards, greetings, going to the church to pray, listening to the songs about Christmas.
Other activities on Christmas Day may include the eating of Christmas dinner.
Most households with children tell them that Father Christmas (Santa Claus) comes down the chimney (ống khói) on the night of Chirstmas Eve and Father Christmas gives children the gifts in the socks. đôi tất
> New year:
- This is a traditional festival to welcome to New Year on 1/1. This is popular festival on over the world. On this occasion, people have days off (ngày nghỉ) depend on every country.

4. OTHER NOTABLE ANNUAL OCCASIONS:
Similarities:
Holidays and Occasions are the important parts of cultural life of people both Britain and Vietnam. This is really a meaningful time for people to relax after a hard- working time and enjoy their country’s culture and customs.
Besides traditional and modern holidays, it has lots of other notable annual occasions.
There are similar occasions such as: Mother’s Day, April Fools’ Day, Halloween.
The Valentine’s Day is an occasion for the lovers.
The birthday party is most important for children and adults.
