What does the word variation mean?
Variation is a word that describes the similarities and differences between living things.
As you can see below some living things have similarities and some have differences but there is an enormous variety!

Elephants are animals which means they can move, eat and grow. They get their energy from eating living things.
Plants e.g. trees are also living things just like animals but they get their energy to grow from the Sun. They usually have leaves.
Look at the pictures below and click on the four animals:
Polar bear. This a a type of animal called a “mammal” which have hair or fur and produce milk, humans are mammals too. It is an animal. Well done!

Ash tree (leaf opening). Plants use the Suns energy to get their food. It is not an animal. Try again.
