SCRIPT FOR MC – TET HOLIDAY
1) Crossword
MC: “Good morning, everyone. I’m glad to welcome all of you to our English club today.”
“To begin with, I have a small game for you. Please look at the screen. You will try to find the key word in blue. If you are the first one to get it right, you will get a present.”
“Now, what number first?” (Everyone chooses a number, MC reads the question loud, MC asks for answer and checks the key)
“What number next?” (the same as above till the key word is found out)
“Can you tell us your name and your class?” (answer)
“Now, what’s your answer?”
“That’s correct. Here’s a present for you. Thank you. By the way, what does Lunar New Year mean?” (Answer)
“That’s right. It means “Tết Âm Lịch”. Thank you. A big hand for ….., please”
“So Tet is coming very near. Do you like Tet? Why? (get some sts to answer)
“What do you do before Tet?” (get some sts to answer)
“What do you do on Tet?” (get some sts to answer)
“Now, you will speak about Tet with your friends.” (about 15m)
2) Circle and groups
MC gets everyone to stand up, follow MC to make a circle, hands on shoulder, and repeat after MC:
-“Who are we?” “Vietnamese people.”
-“Where do we live?” “In Vietnam.”
-“Where is Vietnam?” “A small country in Asia.”
-“How is Vietnam?” “It’s poor.”
-“Can we make it rich?” “Yes.”
-“How?” “Learn English today.”
-“How?” “Speak English today.”
-“Is English difficult?” “No.”
-“Can we speak English?” “Yes.”
-“Together,” “We will change Vietnam,” “into a rich country.” -“How?” “Learn English today.”
-“How?” “Speak English today.”
-“Is English difficult?” “No.”
-“Can we speak English?” “Yes.”
-“Together,” “We will change Vietnam,” “into a rich country.”
-“Can we?” “Yes”
- “How?” …(repeat the verse)
MC gets sts to break the circle and make 2 lines. MC reads 1, 2, 3, 4 to decide on a group till the last group.
3) Speak
“Now, you will speak about Tet Holiday. Are you ready? (Yes) Ok. Let’s speak!”

“Can anyone come to the front and talk about Tet?” (get some to talk)
4) Ms. Alice comes:
MC: “Our special guest has come. Everybody, please stand up and give Ms. Alice a big hand.”
“Good morning Ms. Alice, I’m glad you are here today. Would you like to say something with us?” (Alice talks)
“Ms. Alice, the biggest holiday in Viet Nam is coming. Do you know what it is?” (answer)
“Yes, we are very eager to welcome the New Year, or in Vietnam we call it Tet. How about you? Can you tell us about the New Year in England? What do you do to welcome a New Year?” (answer)
“That’s very interesting. And now can our students ask you some questions?” (Yes)
“Thank you. Students, feel free to ask Ms Alice your questions.”…
“No more questions? Thank you. Now, Ms Alice, can you walk around and talk to the students, please?” (OK)
“Students, now you will continue to talk about Tet Holiday. Ms Alice will have about 10 minutes to talk to you. Take the chance! Let’s speak!”

“Now, Ms Alice must go. Ms Alice, Thank you so much for coming. We have some flowers for you. We wish you good luck and good health.” (Alice answers)

5) Party (biscuits + music)
“Now, let’s party!” (biscuits and sweets delivered)
“The first song today is “This is me” by Demi Lovato. The song will be performed by Hong Dung and Lễ. Please look at the song in your topic paper and sing with them. Are you ready? Ok. Music please.”
“Thank you. The next song is “Live while we are young” by Thu Trang from class 12A3.
