A. Theory:
1. Past simple tense: ( last, ago, yesterday,...)
To talk about past activities

(?) Did + S + V(bare) ?
Did Lan visit Ho Chi Ming`s Mausoleum last year? (Yes, she did/ No, she didn`t)
With WISH
I wish you had a longer vacation.
I wish I were older.
They wish they stayed in Hue.
The Present perfect ( for, since, just, recently, already, many times, yet, ever,......)
(+) have / has + V(PP)
I have learned English for 4 years.
(-) haven`t / hasn`t + V(PP)
I haven`t learned English for 4 years.
(?) Have/ Has + S + V(PP) ?
Have you learned English for 4 years? (Yes, I have / No, I haven`t)
3. Direct and reported speech
- Lời nói gián tiếp( Reported speech) là tường thuật lại ý của người nói.
- Khi muốn chuyển lời nói trực tiếp sang lời nói gián tiếp, ta cần lưu ý đến một số thay đổi sau:
+ Lùi thì động từ (Changes in tenses of verbs)
Simle present -> Simple past.
" I feel sick" -> He said he felt sick.
Present continuous -> Past continuous
" I`m writing a letter" -> He said he was writing a letter.
Simple past+Present perfect -> Past perfect
" I have seen this film" -> He said he had seen that film.
Simple future -> Future in the past
" I will go to Japan in July" -> He said he would go to Japan in July.
+ Thay đổi tính từ và trạng từ ( Changes in Adj & Adv)
This -> that These -> those
Here -> there Now -> then
Today -> that day Ago -> before
Yesterday -> the day before/ the previous day
Tomorrow -> the day after/ the following day
Next week -> the week after/ the following week
Những sự thay đổi này đều được áp dụng cho các loại câu dưới đây
a/ Tường thuật câu mệnh lệnh:
" Hurry up , Lan" -> He told Lan to hurry up.
" Don`t hurry up, Lan" -> He told Lan not to hurry up.
b/ Tường thuật câu hỏi: Có 2 loại
1/ Yes/ no questions:
" Are you tired?" -> He askes me if/ whether I was tired.
" Will Tom be here tomorrow?" -> She asked me if/whether Tom would be there the day after
2/ WH- questions
" What time does the film begin?" -> He wanted to know what time the film began
" Who are you?" -> He asked her who she was.
c/ Tường thuật câu kể:
" I will go to Hue tomorrow", said Miss Chi. -> Miss Chi said she would go to Hue the following day.
"I`m having a wonderful time here.",said Mai. -> Mai said she was having a wonderful time there.
4. Passive voice:
BE + past participle / Modal verbs + BE + past participle
Rice is grown in tropical countries.
This exercise must be done carefully.
5 . Gerunds:
Enjoy, like, hate, love, suggest, ...... + V-ing
I like playing soccer.
6 . Tag- questions
You like watching sports, don`t you?
You don`t like watching sports, do you?
7 . Modals with IF:
If you want to improve your English, we can help you.
8 . Conditional sentences: type 1 If + present, will + verbs
If we work hard, we will make this beach a clean and beautiful place again.
9 . Conditional sentences: type 2: If + past tense, would/ could/ might + vebrs
If you saw a UFO, what would you do?
If I were him, I would tell the trust.
10 . Relative clauses
who/ which/ whom/ whose: Là đại từ liên hệ được dùng để nối mệnh đè chính với mệnh đề phụ
WHO : chỉ người, làm chủ ngữ cho mệnh đề liên hệ
The man is Mr. Pike. He is standing overthere.
The man who is standing overthere is Mr Pike.
