Với loại tường thuật này ta có thể sử dụng mẫu câu tường thuật như sau:
to tell/ask someone to do something
Example: - My teacher told me to listen to her.
- She asked me to shut the door.
Dạng phủ định:
to tell/ask someone not to do something
Example: My teacher asked me not to talk in the class
II/Reported offers and suggestions
Trong loại câu này chúng ta thường dùng với một số động từ: offer, promise, refuse, agree, threaten, hope, wish,…. Với cấu trúc câu như sau: S +reported verb+ to –inf
Example: She promised to do her homework
Ngoài ra còn có thể sử dụng với các động từ sau remind, warn, advise, invite, allow, ….. Với cấu trúc như sau:
S +reported verb+ object + to-inf
Example: My Mom reminded me to go to school early
B/Reported speech with gerund
Chúng ta thường sử dụng thường sử dụng reported speech để tường thuật cảm xúc hoặc lời đề nghị của ai đó.
Form: S + V + (not) Gerund phrase
S + V + (O) + prep + (not) Gerund phrase
Thường dùng với một số ngữ và động từ như sau:
Thanks s.o for: cảm ơn ai về một việc gì.
Congratulation s.o on: chúc mừng ai về điều gì
Apologize for: xin lỗi ai về việc gì

Accuse s.b of: buộc tội ai về điều gì
Dream of: mơ về
Think of: nghĩ đến
Prevent sb from: ngăn ngừa điều gì
Insist on: cố nài
Look forward to: trông điều gì
Warn s.b against: dặn ai đề phòng cái gì
suggest (đề nghị), deny (từ chối), admit (chấp nhận) etc…
