PREPOSITION
I. ADJECTIVE + PREPOSITION:
After many adjectives we use particular prepositions. For example, we say afraid of, interested in and bored with.
Here are some common examples of these adjective + preposition combinations:
* ABOUT: concerned ~ sth: (lo lắng, lo âu)/ worried/ nervous/ angry/ annoyed/ furious/ curious/ excited/ particular (cầu kỳ, kỹ) / strict/ indignant ~sth/ suspicious ~ sO,sth/
- I`m excited about having my birthday party tomorrow.
- Are you worried about your exam? - I`m angry about all the mess you`ve made.
* AT: good / bad / clever/ hopeless (thiếu khả năng, năng lực)/ angry/ disappointed/ indignant ~ sth:(căm phẩn, phẩn nộ)/ poor =bad at
- He’s hopeless at maths. / - I`m not very good at mathematics. - You`re not bad at chess
* surprised at/by shocked at/by astonished at/by amazed at/by amused at/by
- We were surprised at/by the size of the house.
* FOR: famous/ well- known/ responsible ~ sO,sth: chịu trách nhiệm (về pháp lý, đạo đức)/ eligible (đủ tư cách) / essential/ good/ greedy ( thèm, ham muốn)/ hungry/ noted= famous/ important/ qualified( đủ tư cách)
- Brazil is famous for its coffee. - Who is responsible for breaking this window?
* different from/ to: - He`s very different from/ to his sister.
* IN: interested/ concerned (có liên quan, dính líu)/ disappointed/ involved/ poor/ rich/ self-sufficient(tự phụ, tự mãn) : - I`m quite interested in photography.
* OF: afraid/ frightened/ scared/ proud/ full/ ashamed/ jealous/ envious/ suspicious ~ sO,sth (nghi ngờ)/ short/ aware/ conscious/(in)capable/ fond/ tired/ confident/ convinced ( tin chắc, đoan chắc)/ critical ~ SO,sth:( chỉ trích, phê phán)/ deprived (thiếu thốn)/ guilty/ ignorant:không biết, dốt / independent/ suspicious/ typical: tiêu biểu, điển hình/
- Are you afraid of spiders? - I’m very proud of you. - Are you jealous of his success?
- He`s very fond of her. - My homework was full of mistakes.
- We’re a bit short of milk. Can you buy some more?
- I`m tired of doing the same thing every day.
* nice/ kind/ good/ friendly/ polite/ rude/ stupid/ of someone...
- It was very nice of Simon to lend you the money.
* keen on: She`s not very keen on tennis.
* TO: engaged/ married/ similar/ confined: giới hạn, hạn chế / devoted ~SO,sth:tận tụy, sốt sắng, nhiệt tình/ important/ essential/ indifferent/ opposed ~sth: chống đối, phản đối/ peculiar ~sO,sth:riêng biệt, đặc biệt/ preferable/ responsible ~sO.sth: chịu trách nhiệm trước/ restricted/ sensitive: nhạy cảm, dễ bị ảnh hưởng/ superior/

* nice/ kind/ good/ friendly / polite/ rude to someone - A shop assistant should be polite to customers
* WITH: pleased/ bored/ disappointed/ happy/ indignant ~ sO/ concerned ~sth: (đề cập đến cái gì)
- You look very pleased with yourself.
- I became bored with the book and stopped reading it.- We were disappointed with the football match.
