Main Idea
The invention of the postage stamps solved difficult problem when you send and receive a letter. The postage stamps became popular in many country in the world. And now, collecting stamp is one of the most popular hobbies.
Rowland Hill, a British teacher, had the idea of postage stamp with glue in the back. The British post office made the first stamps in 1840. They were the Penny Black and Twopence Blue. A person bought a stamp and put on letter. The post office delivered the letter. The receiver didn’t have to pay anything because it was prepaid.
Before the invention of the postage stamp, it was difficult to send a letter to another country. Two person paid for letter to travel in two country. If a letter crossed several country, the problem was worse.

But there are still problems with international mail. Some countries didn’t accept letter with stamp from another country. Final, in 1874, a German organized the Universal Postal System (USP). Each country in USP agreed to accept letter from others member.
Postage stamps became popular in Great Britain immediately others country star making their own one very quickly.

Today, the office of the USP are in Switzerland. Almost every country in the world is member of the organization.
The post offices distribute many beautiful stamps. Collecting stamp become one of the most popular hobbies and every stamp collector knows about the Penny Black and Twopence Blue.
