WATER POLLUTION
Water pollution is a contamination of water by foreign matter such as microorganisms, chemicals, industrial or others wastes or sewage.
Raw sewage is pumped directly into the sea
Why is the water polluted?
Water Pollution can come from many different sources, including military, trade fishing and recreational ships. Ships are responsible for dumping raw sewage into the water as well as plastics and other non-biodegradable products into the ocean. In many cases these non-biodegradable plastics are washed onto shore were they become entangled in the beaks of sea-birds, or eaten by marine or sea animals. Although ships receive the most attention for ocean dumping industries situated on harbor front lands are also responsible. In many cases these industries dump chemicals into the waterway as a quick form of disposal!
Many garbage in the river
Oil spill in the sea
Catch fish by dynamite
Raw sewage flowing into the sinking river at Dunmore Co. Galway
Type of water pollution
One kind of water pollution, which is usually the most common, is called CONVENTIONAL and is made up of conventional pollutants.
2) Another type of pollution is called NON-CONVENTIONAL and is made up of non-conventional pollutants.
Waste materials which go into rivers and the sea may promote the growth of alage. Alage may use all the oxygen. The excess growth of alage is also the cause of red tides.
Because fish and other marine life cannot live in Hong Kong's dirty water, fishing boats have to travel further to find fish. As a result, we have to pay more for our seafood.
If marine plants die, the fish which feed on them die. If the fish die, the birds which feed on them will also die. The birds which feed on them will also die. The whole food chain is broken and we will have less food to eat.
Effect of water pollution
Poisonous chemical waste which goes into the sea can affect fish. Human may be poisoned by eating these fish.
People who drink polluted water may catch cholera or typhoid.
People swimming in dirty water may develop ear or skin infections or other diseases.
Crude oil leaked into the sea from tankers can destroy beaches, marine life and birds.
Some of sources polluted the water
Waste materials
Chief source of water pollution
Sewage
Industrial wastes
Serious consequence
What You Can Do!!!
Help keep our water clean by following these simple tasks that you. Can do right at home!!!
-Talk to your parents about using pesticides and fertilizers with care: Remember that chemicals you put into the ground can run off and pollute our water.
-Use water wisely: Always turn off the faucet when you aren't using the water.
-Never throw trash, paint, or oil into street drains.
-Talk with your parents about using environmentally safe laundry detergents and household cleaners.
-Plant plants in your garden and in your yard to prevent water and fertilizers from running off.
-When you're having a picnic, fishing, or having fun by the water, make sure to clean up by disposing of all your litter and other wastes.
-Anytime you see water pollution, tell a grown-up: If it is safe, you can help clean it up. If not, have the grown-up help you contact the proper authorities.
If we all do our part, we can help put an end to water pollution!!!
Environment polluting actions:
- Littering garbage
- Destroying forest
- Using atom bomb
War
Dripping
- Spraying pesticide
SEE YOU AGAIN
HOPE YOU HAVE DIFFERENT IDEA ABOUT WATER POLLUTION
THANKS FOR LISTENING !!!!
