Etymologically syllabus means a "label" or "table of contents."

The American Heritage Dictionary defines syllabus as outline of a course of study.
A syllabus is a document which consists, essentially of a list. This list specifies all the things that are to be taught in the course (Methodology 2)

* Curriculum refers to the subject matter or content, the entire instructional process including material, equipment, examination and the training of teacher.
