PASSIVE VOICE
a. The present simple tense:
Active: S + V(s/es) + O + (M)
Passive: S + am/is/are + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: My mother feeds the chickens every morning
=> The chickens are fed by my mother every morning
b. The past simple tense:
Active: S + V( ed/V2) + O + (M)
Passive: S + was/were + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: A violent storm destroyed the fishing village
=> The fishing village was destroyed by a violent storm
c. The Present perfect tense:
Active: S + has/ have + PP + O + (M)
Passive: S + has/have + been + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: A doctor has just examined John
=> John has just been examined by a doctor
d. The present progressive tense:
Active: S + am/is/are + V- ing+ O + (M)
Passive: S + am/is/are + being + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: They are repairing my piano at the moment
=> My piano is being repaired at the moment
e. The past progressive tense:
Active: S + was/were+ V- ing+ O + (M)
Passive: S + was/were+ being + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: She was doing her homework at that time
=> Her homework was being done at that time
f. The future simple tense:
Active: S + will/can …+ V + O + (M)
Passive: S + will/ can … + be + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: I will translate the instructions into French
=> The instructions will be translated into French.
I. PASSIVE on SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
1. They carry those shelves to our library
2. People see John at the bus stop every morning
3.They put those newspapers on the reading table
4. He sells this book
5. They do an important research in this library
6.My sister finds that book on the shelf
7. People play football all over the world
8. They speak French and English in Cananda
9.People don’t keep those books for reference
10.The principal doesn’t write this letter
11.Mr. Jones teaches this class.
12.The children drinks whisky
13.A rooster does not lay eggs.
14.Sheep give the wool

II. PASSIVE ON SIMPLE PAST TENSE
1. Paul and Peter watched the football match.
2. Shakespeare wrote Hamlet.
3. Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492.
4. Anna painted the Wilsons` house.
5. The American team won the cup.
6. Philip took a picture of the sea.
7. My mother saw Mike at the supermarket
8. Freddy Mercury sang `We Will Rock You`.
9. My parents read `Da Vinci Code`.
10. My brother found a purse in the street.
III. PASSIVE on Present and past continuous tense
1 He is playing video games at the moment.
2 I am helping Hoa and Lan with doing homework at the present.
3 My parents are watching TV now.
4 They are playing soccer at the stadium now.
5 Yesterday, I was reading books when she came.
6 . They are doing maths exercises mow.
7 Lan was washing clothes when it rained.
8 The Browns were visiting Ngoc Son Temple
9 My dad was watering the garden while my mum was cooking dinner.
10. She is reading a novel now
11.The mailman is delivering the mail now.
12. Alice is teaching that group.
13. Someone is repairing my car at the moment.
14. My friends were making some phone calls at 6 in the evening.
15. Bad drivers are causing many accidents
16. Susan is phoning her boyfriend in the living room now
17. They are using the computer at the moment
18. At 7 o’clock yesterday, they were repairing the car

IV. PASSIVE ON PRESENT
a. The present simple tense:
Active: S + V(s/es) + O + (M)
Passive: S + am/is/are + PP + (M) + ( by +O)
Eg: My mother feeds the chickens every morning
=> The chickens are fed by my mother every morning
b. The past simple tense:
Active: S + V( ed/V2) + O + (M)
Passive: S + was/were + PP + (M) + ( by +O)

=> The fishing village was destroyed by a violent storm
