Statements in Reported speech
Yes- No questions in Reported speech
WH-questions in Reported speech
S1 + said + (that) + S2 + V...

S1 + asked +(o) + WH- + S2 + V...
EX: The teacher said to us: “You have to try harder ”.
The teacher told us we had to try harder .
Ex: “When does the English course begin?” He said.
He asked (me) when the English course began.
EX: She asked me: “Do you like English songs?”
She asked me if / whether I liked English songs.
* Note: You want to change direct sentences into reported speech, pay special attention to the changes of personal pronouns, tenses, adverbs, possessive pronouns as well as possessive adjectives.
Change the following sentences into reported speech
1. “Where do you live ?” He said.
2. She asked me: “Do you go to school by bicycle?”
3. Lan asked Nga: “ Will you buy it to take home?”
4. He asked me: “ Why are you doing this?”
5. She said to me: “ I want to meet you now.”
She told me she wanted to meet me then.
He asked me where I lived.
She asked if / whether I went to school by bicycle.
Lan asked Nga if/whether she would buy it to take home.
He asked me why I was doing that.

Simple present tense Modal verb + V (bare inf.)

Modal verbs with “IF”
