I – Warm up: Puzzle
- Teacher (T) shows an empty puzzle for students (S) and asks them questions in turn. With each correct answer, students will have a word with a bold letter. After 14 questions, students will have the word OVERPOPULATION

1) Work in pair:
- Teacher asks S to work in pair and discuss the questions in page 84.
- T calls some Ss to answer and give comments.

*) Task 1:
Instruction: You will hear Dr. Brown, a world population expert, talk about the world population. Listen and choose the best answer A, B, C, D to complete the statement.
- T asks Ss to read the statements carefully and pay attention to the important words.
- T gives some tips with the way to read some difficult fingers such as 6.6 million or 66 million…
- T plays the tape for Ss to listen once and then asks Ss to check the answer with the partner.
- T plays the tape again and check the correct answer with the whole class.
