Unit 1 :AVISIT FROM A PEN PAL
Period 2: Getting started –Listen and read
I. Objectives : After the lesson, students can introduce themseleves and reply the introduction.
II. Language contents :
1.Grammar : - Past simple tense.
- past simple with “wish”
2.Vocabulary : - correspond (v) ,be impressed by ,friendliness
- mosque (n) : nhà thờ hồi giáo
- pray (v) : cầu nguyện
III. Teaching aids : cassette player, pictures about famous places in PT
IV. Techniques : guess, answer the question, Multiple choice.
V. Procedures : “trung thu”festival DucThanh school
Famous plasces in Phan Thiet
1.Warm up : brainstorming
- T asks sts :
If your friends visit you, where do
you take him (or her) to ?
What activities would you invite him resort
(or her) to take place ?
- T guides to the passage .You will listen to a passage about Lan and her penpal’s trip in HaNoi and and then answer the questions :
a.Is it the first time that Maryam come to VN ?
b. Where did she visit in Hanoi ?
T: Turn on the cassette ( Sts listen ( answer the questions
Sts read the passage carefully and do the exercise in the book
T: calls some Sts read the answers loudly.

T: gives some new words : - correspond : lien lạc qua thư
- be impressed by : bị ấn tượng bởi....
- friendliness : sự thân thiện
- Mosque : nhà thờ hồi giáo
- keep in touch : giữ liên lạc
T: calls some Sts read the passage loudly
T: correets pronunciation mistakes
T: gives and explaints the grammar points :
Used to + V ( impress a custom in the past.
Ex: She used to walk past the mosque on the way to her primary school.
b. S + wish + S + past simple. (be ( were)
Ex: I wish you had a longer vacation.
I wish I were a doctor.
2. Production:
Say somethings about Lan and Maryam’s activities in HN
3. Homework :
- read the passage again
- say about the journey.
- Prepare: U1 : Speak and listen.
Unit 1 : A VISIT FROM A PENPAL
Period 3 : (cont) speak and Listen
I. Objectives: Students can contimce introducing themselves, making friends and talking about the place where they live according to the impressions: Let me introduce myself, please to meet you.
II. Language contens:
1. Grammar : present simple tense.
2. Vocabulary: different from, let me introduce myself, be the same in some ways, walk on grass, pick up flowers.
III. Teachniqnes : pairwork, ask and answer
IV. Teaching aids : cassette player, pictures.
V. Steps of teaching :
1.Warm up: One student says abont the trip of Lan and her penpal.
2. Students play games “Introduce myself” devide class into 4 groups
- Each student of a group says 4 sentences.
- My name is _____ - I like ....
- I’m ____ years old
- Thers are 4 members in my family
- The second student reprots what the first student said.
3. Speak:
a. Pre - Speak
- Teacher introduces the situation: Nga is talking to Maryam. They are waiting for Lan outside the school. Now make the dialogue in order
b. While - Speak:
- Students do the exercise and compare with her friends’ans wer.
- Teacher gives the keys.

- Students practice the dialogue.
- Teacher gives the situation which similar with the above dialogue of one student and one of the person in the book and make the dialogue.
- Teacher asks students to read the imformation in the book carefully
- Teacher models :
- Student : Hello, you must be Yoko
- Yoko : That’s right . I am.
- Student : Please to meet you. Let me introduce my self . I’m Dung.
- Yoko: Please to meet you, Dung. Are you one’s of Minh’s
