Mai’s Japanese pen pal, Yoko, was staying with Mai last week. Yoko comes from Tokyo. Mai and Yoko have been pen pals for over two years and they correspond at least once every two weeks, but this was their first meeting.
On Yoko’s first day in Ho Chi Minh City, Mai took her to Ben Thanh Market. Like Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City is very busy modern. Yoko was really impressed by the beauty of the city and by the friendliness of its people.
Over the next few days, the girls visited the Palace of Reunification, Nha Rong Harbor as well as many beautiful lakes and parks in Ho Chi Minh City. On Saturday, Yoko wanted to visit Giac Lam Pagoda. Mai used to walk past the pagoda on her way to primary school. However, this was Mai’s first visit.
