Good morning everybody. First of all, I would like to give all of you my best wishes. I wish our contest good success. I’d like to introduce about myself. My name is Thanh. I’m in class 9c, Lang Ngam secondary school. I like learning English very much. I think English is a useful and important language, so I always try my best to learn it better. I’m very happy to take part in this contest. It’s a good chance for me to improve my English speaking skill. Today I’m going to express my opinion on the topic: “ Should children be banned to use electric bicycle?”
Firstly, I want to ask the students some questions: “ How far is it from your house to school?” and “How do you go to school?” If it is not very far, you can walk or use traditional bikes, of course. However, if the school is far from your house, how do you travel to school? In this case, an electric bicycle is a suitable mean of trasport for you.
We can’t deny the advantages of using electric bicycles as a mean of transport. We can travel faster and longer distances without much physical effort. We will likely find that our journey is shortened in length and we won’t get tired because of the extra help from the motor, so we can save time. An electric bike can make biking much less challenging when cycling into headwinds and going up hills. They are environmentally, friendly means of transport because the electric bicycles don’t nead petrol to run and they don’t cause noise when we ride them. Besides, we don’t nead a driving license to ride one. There are many types of electric bicycles which are beautiful, sporty and fashionable for you to choose, too.
However, electric bicycles also have some disadvantages. Electric bicycles are quite heavy compared to normal bikes, so the small children( under 14 years old) will find it difficult to use . It’s easy to have accidents because of their high speed. They can reach 50 kilomiters per hour and the parents are always worried about it. We need to recharge the battery very often and it takes several hours for the battery to recharge fully. Moreover, electric bicycles are much more expensive than traditional ones.
From my point of view, electric bicycles are popular means of trasport. Many people of different ages can use them. I think the school children from grade 8 or 9 can ride electric bicycles when they have to travel long distances to school. When the chilren are 14 or 15 years old, they are old enough, trong enough and they know how to use the electric bikes safely. But they must remember to wear helmets and control the speed limits when they ride the electric bikes. They have to obey the traffic rules trictly, too.
In conclusion, nowadays electric bicycles are popular means of transport, especially for the youth. I think children shouldn’t be banned to use electric bicycles. School children from 14 or 15 years old can ride them. But their parents and teachers should guide them carefully about the traffic rules, and they must learn how to ride the electric bikes safely.
