PART I: INTRODUCTION
Nonverbal communication is believed to be an essential part of all face-to-face interaction. Therefore, it would be seriously wrong to ignore it in communicative language teaching. Non-verbal communication is, however, looked at from different aspects with different foci of attention by different researchers. Body language is an important aspect of nonverbal communication. It is a conventional term for communication by the use of parts of the body. In order to raise people’s awareness of the similarities and differences between the way Vietnamese and American people use body language, we decided to conduct a cross-cultural communication project relating to the body language by using two video extracts from American and Vietnamese movies, and some games .

PART II: DEVELOPMENT
Target population
The target population of our project is EFL students in Vietnam.
Problem areas
Nonverbal communication is a very broad area of cross-cultural communication. That’s why we only focus on the body language.
3. Materials
- Two video extracts from American and Vietnamese movies with the same setting – the party were chosen and analyzed to find out the similarities and differences about how Vietnamese and Americans use body language to communicate.
- A game show consisting of 3 parts (crossword puzzles, movie analysis and happy flowers) was conducted to enhance participants’ knowledge of body language communication.
4. Game show
4.1 Game 1
1, Name: “Cross word”
2, Time: 15 minutes
3, Number of participants: the whole class
4, Participants’ level of proficiency: intermediate
5, Things needed: Laptop, projector and power point slides, gifts.
6, Game rule:
There are 9 cross words and one down one. After each cross word is found, participants will know one letter of the down word. These letters are not in the correct order. They will have to rearrange them to find out the down word. The cross words are all related to the down one. They can guess the down one at any time. Each cross word is worth a gift and of course, the down one is worth a bigger one.

To help participants have a deeper understanding of nonverbal communication in general and body language in particular, we included the definition and patterns of nonverbal communication and body language.
NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
NCV is all the constituents of communication which are not verbally coded, but vocally and/or nonvocally channeled. It concludes paralinguistic factors ( nonverbal- vocal) such as rate, volume, vocal flow…and extralinguistic factors ( nonverbal - nonvocal) grouped into body language such as gestures, postures, facial expressions…,object languague such as clothing, accessories…,and environmental language such as conversational distance, setting…
