(Guiding questions
Give students 2 guiding questions on the board :
1.What is the problem to our energy at present? What must people do in that situation?
2.what are alternative sources of energy?

Expected answer :
1. ( Reserves of fossil fuels are limited and power demand is increasing very rapidly so they will be exhausted within a short time .
( People must develop and use alternative sources of energy
2. Alternative sources of energy are nuclear energy, geothermal heat, solar energy, water power, wind power.
(Doing task 1
Ask students to read all the words in the box and tell the meaning of them. Encourage students to guess the meanings from the context.
For example :’ alternative’: base on the context student can get the meaning of this word ( fossil fuel will be exhausted soon so we ‘ll need to look for new sources of energy to replace fossil fuel) so alternative mean “something to replace with).
‘Limited’ is contrasted with’ unlimited’
Similarly, ‘released’ and’ exhausted’ are the same
Check that the students understand all new words by calling on some students to tell the meanings in Vietnamese.
Ask students to work out what part of speech is needed in each blank. Then ask them to do the task in individuals.
Call 5 students to do 5 sentences. Teacher shows the answer and check one by one.
Expected answer:1.released
2.alternative
3.energy
4.limited
5.exhausted
( Doing task 2.
Give students some tips to do the task:
+Find out the key words in the task.
+Identify and locate the key words in the text.
+Then read around the key words carefully to find the answer.
Divide class into 5 groups . Each group will find out about advantages and disadvantages of a source of energy and write down it on the pieces of paper then go to the board and write down.
