The best of friends (bám sát)
I. the contents:
Helping students consolidate and understand more how to say about their friendship.
Describe the body (appearance,character …) of their relatives, friends.
Saying the same and the difference from them.
II. Skill:
* Starter:
- Getting used to communicative situations and knowledgeable language, vocabulary, modal sentences.
* Speaking:
- Describing appearance and character of their friends.
- Saying the same and the difference from them.
* Listening:
- Listening to descriptions of friends or relatives.
* Reading:
Reading comprehension.
Answer questions.
* Project (Writing).
- Guided writing about oneself, relatives, friends.
- Write a short paragraph about friends who they like best.
- Complete sentences.
* Test yourself:
- Doing a test.
III. Grammar and vocabulary:
* Grammar:
- Present simple tense and Simple past tense.
- Comparasions of adjectives: (better, more, the most).
- Descriptive adjectives.
- Relative pronoun: “Who”
* Vocabulary:
- Adjective about body, appearance and character.
- Descriptive nouns.
IV. Unit allocation:
Lesson 1: Starter. Lesson 4: Listening.
Lesson 2: Reading. Lesson 5: Project/ Writing.
Lesson 3: Speaking. Lesson 6: Test.
The best of friends
Lesson 1: STARTER
Task I: Fill the opposite adjectives with the following words:
Example: Tall short
a. slim f. strong
b. old g. sociable
c. shy h. mean
d. big i. curly
e. short j. thick
* Divide the class into three groups and ask them to find the opposite adjectives.
* Ask Ss to say before the class.
Answer keys:
a. fat f. weak
b. young g. unfriendly.
c. outgoing h. generous
d. small i. straight
e. long/ tall j. thin
* Ask Ss to describe whoever in class ( using above adjectives).
Example:
Tall: Nam is tall but Hung is taller.
Short: Binh is short, Nga is shorter, Lan is the shortest.
Task II: Friendship.
* Ask Ss to work inpair and discuss about friendship.
“ A friend is someone who………………………………….………”
* Call on some Ss to give their opinions.
+ Possible answers:
A friend is someone who helps you in your study.
A friend is someone who understands you and loves you.
A friend is someone who always pays attention you.
A friend is someone who shares your sadness and happiness.
A friend is someone who never tell alie with you.
A friend is someone who always say you the truths.
A friend is someone who ………………………….
* Ask Ss to discuss the questions.
+ Do you and your close friends have the same or difference characters? Why?.
* Call on some Ss to give their opinions.
Task III: Agree or Disagree.
- How similar do people need to be to become good friends?
- Do you agree with the statements in this list. Add more statements pf your own.
- Let Ss give some opinion, then tick (v) in column agreement or disagreement.
- get Ss to compare their answers with the partners.

what does your friend look like?

what are your friend’s best qualities?
how is your friend similar to or different from you?

* Pre – teach vocabulary:
- sensible - exploring
- talkative - personalities.
