UNIT 1:
A VISIT FROM A PENPAL
Lesson 1: Getting started & listen and read.
I. Aims:
-By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know about some places in Viet Nam.
-To develop reading and listening skills.
-To educate Ss to love the beautiful places in Viet Nam on particular and the beauty
Spots in the world in general.
*Language content:
-Vocabulary about beauty spots.
-Present simple tense.
II. Teaching method:
-pairs work, groups work
-intensive reading ,communicative method.
III. Teaching aids.
-Lesson plan E. L, text book, pictures, sub board, tape and cassette.
IV. Teaching procedure:

A. Getting started.(5’ – 7’).
-T asks ss to work in pairs to write the names of the pictures.

-T remarks and leads to the lessons.


B. Listen and read.
1. Presentation. (10’).
-T sets the scene to ss.
-T gives the vocab. On the board to ss.
-T asks ss to read vocab. In groups, individuals.

-Tgets feedback

2. Practice.(15’).
-T plays the cassette twice to ask ss to listen to the tape carefully.
-T lets ss read the text silently.
-T asks ss to work in group to find the correct answers.

- T remarks and gets feedback.

3. Production. (7’).
- T uses T/F statements to check ss’ understanding


4. Conclusion. (4’).
-T asks ss to read the text aloud before the class.
-T remarks and corrects the mistakes to ss


5. Homework.(2’).
-T asks ss to:

Ss. –work in pairs.
*Pictures.
a. Temple of literature in Ha Noi.
b. Ngo Mon Gate.
c. Dong Xuan market.
d. Revolutionary museum.
e. Noodles store.
f.People committee of HaNoi city.

- Listen to T’s introduction.
- Copy down vocab.
+(to) correspond (v) : (to) exchange the (letter).
+ Mosque (n) :church of Arab.
+(to) pray (v) :to beg ST from God.
+(to) depend on. :( translation).
+(to) keep in touch. : ( explanation).
-Practice reading vocab. In chorus, individuals.
-Rub out and remember.

-Listen to the tape.
-Work in pairs to read the text silently about 5’ or 7’

-Work in groups to choose the best answers

- Exchange ss’ answers.
-Correct the mistakes

-Work in groups to make the sentences true or fasle.
1. Lan and Maryam were the friend penpals.
2. Maryam wanted to invite Lan Kuala Lumpur.

-Read the text loudly before class.
-Correct the pronunciation and intonation.

I. Aims:
-By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to make and respond to the instruction.
- To develop speaking skills.
-To educate Ss to know how to introduce themselves .
*Language content:
-Present simple tense
-Past simple tense.
-Vocab. about the introducing.

II. Teaching method:
-pairs work, groups work
-Communicative method.

III. Teaching aids.
-Lesson plan E. L, text book, sub board.

IV. Teaching procedure:

1. Warm up. (5’).
* Exchange cards.
-T uses 10 cards with numbers on the sides and the countries and the cities on the other.
-T remarks and leads to the lessons.
2. Presentation. (10’).
-T sets the scene to ss.
-T asks ss to work in pairs
