Warm up (5’)
Check the old lesson
Show a window &ask:
What is this?
Show a eraser than ask Ss:
What is this?
Show a door & ask:
What is that?
Call 3Ss to answer.
Get feedback & comment
Get mark
Lead to new lesson: in the last lesson, we know how to ask & answer about name of things in classroom. Today, we continue learn how to ask & answer about name of things in the house ( plural noun)
Ask Ss to open their book at page 30
Presentation (20’)
Ask Ss to look at the picture at page 30 & ask: what is that man showing or introducing about?
Call 2Ss to answer
Comment Ss’ answer
Lead to: That man is introducing about his house, rooms in that house & things in the house. Now we will listen to him introducing about them.
Read the sentences twice
Ask Ss to read after T in the third listening.
Introduce new words:
House
Living room
Lamp
Armchair
Table
Stereo
Television
Bookshelf
Telephone
Couch
Introduce those words by explain meaning, using poster
Ask the class to repeat all the new words
Call some Ss to repeat them
Ask Ss to observe quantity of things & listen to the T:
Take a pen & say: this is a pen
Take 3 pens & say: these are pens
Take 2 rulers & say: these are rulers
Ask Ss to give the difference & similarity between this is .... & these are....
Give conclusion:
Similarity: this is... & these are... are use to show the object is closer
Difference: This is + N( singular)
These are + N ( plural)
Exercise: ask Ss to move this to these
This is a book
This is a pen
This is an eraser
Model the first sentence
This is a book
These are books
Call 2 Ss come to the board & move
Give comment
Show the hand to a desk & say:
That is a desk
Show the hand to 2 desks & say:
Those are desks
Ask Ss to distinguish the difference & similarity between that is... & those are...
Call 2Ss to answer
Comment
Give conclusion
Similarity: that is...& those are... are use to object which is far
Difference: That is + N (singular)
Those are + N ( plural)
Note : when moving from singular noun to plural noun, we add “s” after singular noun, except nouns end with “ o, s, x, ch, sh”, we add “es” at the end of those nouns
Give example: box- boxes
Couch – couches
Stereo - stereoes
Ask Ss to repeat the question about a unknow object
Call 1student to answer
Ask Ss to look at picture at page 31 & answer: how many armchair are there?
Elicit how to ask &introduce objects:
What are these?- They are armchairs
What are those?- They are tables
Practice (10’)
Read model sentence asking about things again
Ask Ss to repeat
Ask Ss to work in pairs to practice asking about things in living room in page these model sentences:
What is that/this?
It is a/an....
What are these/those?
They are...
Call some pairs to ask & answer in front of the class
Call other students to comment
Futher practice (7’)
Give an exercise: Write the sentences using suggestion.

What/ those?- They/ erasers
What/these? – They / pens
What/ that? – It / ruler.
Model the first sentence:
