UNIT8: COUNTRY LIFE AND CITY LIFE ( Pages 72,73 )
Lesson 1: Getting started & listen and read
I Aims:
-By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the difference between country life and city life, to talk about the intention, plan in the future.
-To develop listening and reading skills.
-To help Ss to know the development between the countryside and the city nowadays however also educate Ss to have awareness of loving their homeland.
II. Language content:
- Present progressive tense
- Comparative and superlative adjectives.
III. Teaching method:
-Pairs work, groups work, intensive reading and communicative method.
IV. Teaching aids:
- Lesson plan E.8, textbook, pictures, , tape and cassette...
V.Procedure:
Teacher’s activities
1. Getting started.(7’)
T introduces about the title of the lesson to Ss
T explains the words or phrases which describe the country and the city to Ss.
T asks Ss to make a list of the differences between the countryside and the city.
T comments and goes on new lesson.
2. Listen and read.(33’)
2.1 Pre- reading
T sets the scene to Ss.
T supplies vocabulary on the board to Ss
T has Ss practice reading vocab in groups,
indiviually.
T uses Slap the board or Rub out and remember to check vocabulary.
2.2. While-reading.
T plays the cassette twice.
T asks Ss to listen to the tape carefully.
T lets Ss read the dialogue silently.
T asks Ss to play a role of Hoa and Na.
T asks Ss to work in groups to do the exercise 2 on page 73.
T comments and corrects the mistakes to Ss.
2.3 Post- reading
T asks Ss to repractice reading the dialogue aloud in front of class.
T remarks and corrects the mistakes to Ss.
3. Consolidation and homework (5’)
T asks Ss to reread the dialogue at home and learn vovab by heart
T asks Ss to prepare new lesson: Lesson 2.

b. She was there for the weekend.
c. She thinks the countryside is too quiet.
d. Maybe she means that the countryside is boring , there is no entertainment, no libraries, no movies, no supermarkets…
e. Hoa mentions many remote areas are getting electricity, people can now have things like refrigerators and TV. And medical facilities are more accessible.
f. I prefer the countryside. Because it’s quiet and peaceful, the air is clean…
Exchange the answers.
Correct the mistakes.

- Copy down the correct answers.
- Read the dialogue aloud in front of class.
