I. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to compare American students’vacations and Vietnamese students’ vacations.
- Practicing reading skills
II. Preparation:
- Material: text book, exercise, posters
- Equipment: cassette (no)

- Ss read A1 and answer the questions
3. Newlesson:
A. Warm up
- Have Ss play a game :
Pelmanism
Early/ late/ longer/ few/ long / earlier / later / fewer
- Ask them to play game
- Remark
B. Presentation:
A2. Read. Then answer the questions.
* Pre- reading
- T Introduces the situation of the lesson
- T presents some new words
- Guess meanings, read new words in chorus and individually - copy down
+ public holidays (n) Ex: 2/9; 1/5; Tet holidays ........ are public holidays.
+ To celebrate (v) : tổ chức, kỉ niệm
+ Easter (n) lễ phục sinh
+ Thanksgiving (n) (picture)
+ New year’s Eve (n)
+ Christmas (n)
- Correct their pronunciation
- Checking technique
- Have Ss play games
What and Where
- Ask Ss to do exercise T or F before reading the letter
- Work in groups predicting the statements T or F
1/ Vnamese students have fewer vacation than American students
2/ American students have the longest vacation in winter
3/ They don’t have a Tet holiday
4/ their most important vacation is New year’s day
5/ They usually spend their time with their families on Thanks giving and Chirstmas Day
- Call on some groups to give their predictions
- Ask Ss to look at the book and read the letter
- Ask them to check their predictions
- Call on some Ss to give the answers in front of the class
- Correct and give the correct answers

* While reading
- Call on 2 ( 3 students to read the letter aloud
- Ss read the letter aloud
- Explain the structure:
S1+V1+fewer +countable plural noun+ than+S2.
S1+V1+more+ uncountable noun/countableplural noun+ than +S2.
- Questions :
- Have Ss work in pairs
- Call on some pairs to practice asking and answering in front of the class
- Correct the mistakes and give the correct answers
a/ Summer vacation is the longest in America
b/ During his vacation, Tim spends time with his family
c/ Vietnamese students have fewer vacations than American students

- Ask Ss to work in pair saying about some public holidays in Vietnam: May Day ,National /Independence Day , Tet holiday.
4. Consolidation
- Ask Ss to repeat (about) the names of the public holidays in American and Vnamese
5.Home work
- Learn by heart new words by writing 2 times for each
- Do exerciseA 4 at page 44 in workbook
- Prepare A 3, 4

After the lesson , Ss will be able to know about names of the public holidays and a typical student’s life.
- They will continue practicing reading comprehension skills.
II. Preparation:

- Read then answer the questionsP74 in workbook.
3. Presentation:
A. Warm up
- Have Ss play a game

- Devide the class into 2 groups
- Call on 2 students represent for their groups to go to the board and write down

B3. Listen. Write the name of the public holiday in each of these pictures.

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures carefully
- Ask Ss to predict the name of each picture
- Give new words:
