LESSON: 1 GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ.
I. Aims and ojectives:
- Language content: To introduce some words relating to celebration such as passover, Easter…..
To help the Ss revise the relative clauses.
- Language function: Talk about celebration.
- Educational aim: To help the Ss to understand the traditional value of celebrations and always remember their family and their home when living a part.
a. Vocabulary: occur, decorate, freedom, slavery, jewish, parade.
b. Structures: relative clauses.
2. Skills: Integrated skills.
3. Educational factor: Enjoy decorating, go shopping, wearing new clothes on the special occations.
II- Teacher and Students’preparation:
1- Method: Communicative approach.
2- Techniques: using pictures, pairwork, roleplay, substitution, explanation.
3- Materials needed:Textbook, ,
4- Students’preparation: new lesson, pictures.
5- Previous exercises: The teacher’s keys to the last test.
III- Procedure in class:
1- Stabilization (3ms) a- Warm up: Greeting.
b- Checking absence: Who’s absent today?
2. Checking up the previous knowledges (5ms): ( can omit).
3. Presentation of the new materials:

I. LEAD-IN
* Getting started:
- Draws some steps, a girl on the top of the steps, shark is in the sea.
- Draws 12 gaps for the word celebration.
- Lets the Ss think of the name of the celebrations all over the world they have known.
Ex: Teacher’s day, women’s day, birthday…..
- Gives feedback and asks the Ss some questions about those days.
1. What day is Passover/ Lunar New Year?
2. What do they do on that day?
- Asks the Ss to look at the icons on page 65 and match them with the suitable name of the celebration.
* Answer keys:
1. Easter, 2.Wedding, 3. birthday
4. Christmas 5. Mid-Autumn Festival 6. Lunar New Year.
- Look at
- Guess the word.
- Give the name of the celebrations all over the world they have known.
- Listen and answer the questions.
- Look at and match them with the suitable name of the celebration.

- Plays the tape one time.
- Introduces some new words:

+ decorate (v)(picture)
+ freedom (translation)
+ slavery (n)(picture)
+ jewish (translation)
+ parade(n)(picture)
- Asks the Ss to read the new words.
- Checks understanding of the new words, using the technique: “ Rub out and remember”.
- Explains the relative clauses: “ who and which”
- Listen to the tape.
- Listen to her and write down.
- Read the new words.
- Play the game with the teacher’s helping.
- Listen to her.
