UNIT: 4 LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
LESSON: 1 GETTING STARTED, LISTEN AND READ.
I- Aims and ojectives:
- Language content: To introduce some new words relating to foreign language.
To help the Ss listen to use reported questions, reported speech and modal verbs with if.
- Language function: Talking about the way to learn foreign language.
- Educational aim: To help the Ss have best methods to learn foreign language.
1- Language:
a- Vocabulary: aspect, examiner, coming, college, candidate, written examination.
b- Structures: S + asked/ said +………+ S + V ( simple past).
2- Skills: Integrated skills.
3- Educational factor: Knowing to learn foreign language effectively.
II- Teacher and Students’preparation:
1- Method: Communicative approach.
2- Techniques: Explanation, using pictures, groupwork, questions- answers.
3- Materials needed:Textbook, pictures, cassette player.
4- Students’preparation: Pictures, new lesson.
5- Previous exercises: The Teacher’s key to the last exercises.
III- Procedure in class:
1- Stabilization (3ms) a- Warm up: Greeting.
b- Checking absence: Who’s absent today?
2- Checking up the previous knowledge (5ms):
* Questions:
Asks the Ss to go to the board and do exercises:
1. Hoa/ can visit/ parents.
2. He returns to the hotel…… 10 pm.
* Keys to the questions:
According to each Ss’ ideas. (1. Hoa wishes she could visit her parents. 2. after…).
3- Presentation of the new materials:
Time
Teacher’s activities.
Students’ activities.
The content of the lesson.

I. LEAD-IN:
* Getting Started:
- Asks the Ss to think about the way they learn and improve their English, then write on the board.
( use dictionary, learn by heart the new words).

* Possible answers:
+ Do more grammar exercises……
- Asks the Ss some questions:
+ Do you usually watch English TV programs?
+ Can you sing English song?
+ How often do you use dictionaries?
- Asks the Ss to read the list, then discuss together to choose their own methods.
- Calls on some Ss to give answers and corrects.
- “ Now we will learn the new lesson about learning a foreign language”.
- Think about the way they learn and improve their English.
- Answer the teacher’s questions.
- Work in groups.
- Give answers.
- Listen to her.

II. PRE- PRACTICE:
- Plays the tape one time.
- Explains some new words:
+ aspect (n)( translation)
+ examiner (n)( explanation)
+ coming (adj)(translation)
+ college(n)(example)
+ candidate(n)(explanation)
+ written examination
(explanation).
- Asks the ss to read the new words.
- Checks understanding of the new words by using the technique: what and where.
- Introduces structures: reported speech: direct/ indirect.
- Sets the sence: “ Lan is talking to Paola, a foreign student, about the oral examination that she has just taken”.
- Listen to the tape.
- Focus on the teacher’s explanation and write down.
- Read the new words.
- Play the game with the teacher’s guiding.
- Listen and write down.
- Listen to her.

- Asks the Ss to work in pairs the dialogue.

- Lets the Ss do the exercise individually then compare with their partners.
- Gives answers.
