Period 1 unit 1: a visit from a penpal

A: Warm up: Getting started:
- T asks some questions:
- Do you have any penpals?
- Where does she/ he live?
- Has she/ he ever visited your city?
- What activities would you do during the visit?
- Ss answer the questions above and then do getting started.
+ I think I’ll take our friends to temples ( Hung Kinh Temple)
+ I’ll take him/ her to “Văn Miếu” ( Temple of literature)
+ I’ll take my friend to Đồng Xuân market.
+ I’ll take her to the museum.
+ I’ll take her to the theaters, restaurants.
B: Presentation:
1- Pre-reading:
- (to) corrrespond: trao đổi thư từ - atmosphere (n): bầu không khí
- to be impressed by: có ấn tượng - (to) pray: cầu nguyện, cầu khấn
- mausoleum (n): lăng - to keep in touch: giữ liên lạc
- mosque (n): nhà thờ hồi giáo - at least (adv): tối thiểu, ít nhất
- every two weeks (adv): hai tuần 1 lần
* Checking: Rub out and remember.
2- While – reading:

Lan’s Malaysian penpal came to visit her in Hà Nội. Can you guesss where she went and what she did during her stay?
- Ss read the text to check their predictions and add some more information.
- Ss read the text again to choose the correct option to complete the sentences on P7.

3/ Post- reading:
- T aks Ss to recommend places of interest in their city.
- T aks them to discuss where they should take their friends to and what activities they should do.

- Materials: Textbook, cards, pictures
- Equipment: extra board
III/ Teaching process.

S1 reads “Listen and read” and answers T’s questions
S2 does ex 4 (P7) from b-> e
S3 does ex 6 (P9) from a->d
3/ New lesson:
A- Warm up: Pelmanism:
- T prepares 10 cards with numbers on one side and the countries and their cities on the other. (They are mixed up)
- T sticks the cards on the board so Ss can only see the numbers.
- T divides the Ss into two teams and aks them to choose two numbers.
- T turns over the cards and see if they match, e.g. Tokyo-Japan. If not, turn the cards face down again and asks the other team to choose. Continue until the cards are turned over ).
