ANGLO SAXON CLOTHING:

An English National Costume group are trying to make England`s national dress be the clothes worn by the Anglo Saxons during the 7th century.

- The Anglo-Saxons were warrior-farmers and came from north-western Europe. They began to invade Britain during 450 A.D.
- England, unlike Wales and Scotland, has no official national dress.
MORRIS DANCERS :

A far better choice for an English national dress would be to choose from our many customs and traditions we have in England.

There are a wide variety of costumes from the spectacular ceremonies associated with monarchy to the traditional costumes worn by morris dancers and others at English country fairs.
THE PEARLY KINGS:

- The Pearly Kings were the leaders of the Victorian street sellers. They got their name because they wore `pearl` buttons on their hats as a sign of authority. Later they began to wear clothes covered all over in buttons.
- The title of Pearly King is passsed down in the family, and there are Pearly Queens, Princes and Princesses too. They now spend their free time collecting for charity.

FASHION
Here we are talking about fashion in general.

The UK is very much a western society.

There, all the people have personality with their clothes because they are very extroverted and it doesn’t matter what the other people think.

They prefer complements and footwear to clothes.
In England wearing long dresses or dresses with heels only to go
to restaurants, discos or meetings is also very popular.
CLOTHES WORN IN
ENGLAND
When they want to relax or do gymnastics they wear comfortable clothes like T-shirts, jeans and sportswear.

Also teenagers and children love wearing the latest sportswear. Moreover they want the colours of their tracksuit and trainers to match.
TEENAGERS SHOPS
• The most popular shops in England
are: TopShop, Oasis, Kookai,
Warehouse, and Miss Sixty.

• Teenagers in Britain want to wear
brands or famous fashion clothes
because if they don’t, they suffer
bullying and it’s true.

• An example: our friend is very fat
and she wears a tracksuit all day to
go everywhere, and she doesn’t
wear fashionable clothes and
people discriminate her.
AT SCHOOL
In some schools, children
must wear jackets and
ties. Most schools in England require children to wear a school uniform.
In other schools, the uniform is
more casual.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
BOYS:
•Long grey or black trousers (shorts may be worn in Summer)
•White shirt
•School tie (optional in most
primary schools)
•Jumper or sweater with the school logo on. The colour is the choice of the schools.
•Black shoes
GIRLS
Girls may wear skirts During the summer term girls often wear summer school dresses.
