Typical families: parents and children lives together
Family Life
1. Americans often have a family pet-usually a dog or cat.
2. The pet live in the house with the people.
The men take care of the children and many women are working outside the home.
Older people live in special homes for the aged

Some rules to follow when eating with Americans
Keep your mouth closed when you are chewing food, and speak only your mouth are empty.
When you are need something which is not near you on the table, ask the person closet to the item to pass it to you, do not reach across in front of them to get it yourself.
If someone offers you more to eat and you would like to have more, accept their offer. They will not repeat the offer or insist that you eat. If you don’t want more, they will accept your refusal.
Do not burp after eating.
Try not to rest your arms on the table while you are eating.
If you need to leave the table while others are still eating, ask, “Would you excuse me, please?”

Breakfast: fruit juice ,cereal or eggs accompanied with toast and bacon or sausage, milk, coffee, etc.
Lunch: one or two sandwiches, a piece of fruit, bag of chips, cookies
Dinner: meat, fish, poultry, dish with cooked vegetables and starch.
Also, Americans have snacks, plus coffee, dessert.
People at work or school bring lunch in paper bag or lunch box.
People working in offices will eat nearby restaurants.
