I. Adjective or adverb? Choose the correct form.
1. A: I heard Daniel isn’t very _____ (good/ well).

II. Combine each pair of sentence, using so and because.
She was hungry. She had a big lunch.
We didn’t enjoy our holiday. The weather was bad.
She is working late next Sunday. She can’t come to the party.
I bought a computer. I want to play computer games.
We don’t use the car very often. We’ve decided to sell it.
The house was empty. We left a note on the door.
Tony went to Paris. He wanted to see the Eiffel Tower.
It was a public holiday. All the shops were shut.
III. Rewrite these sentences by using BECAUSE.
He couldn’t meet you because of being busy.
She went to bed early because of her sickness.
Nobody can do this test because of its difficulty.
Two cars can’t pass each other because of the narrow road.
We spent the whole day in the garden because of lovely weather.
He can’t go to school today because of his toothache.
I can’t play basketball because of my height.
She must stay in bed because of her illness.
We can’t swim in this part of the river because of highly polluted water .
They couldn’t keep on clearing the beach because of heavy rain.
IV. Combine these sentences using BECAUSE/ AS/ SINCE.
Jane was worried. She stayed at home alone.
Tom couldn’t get the job. He was not confident during the interview.
I have to work extra hours. I want to help support my family.
We adore him. He is very talented.
She has to depend on us. She is an orphan.
I enjoy reading books. They help broaden my knowledge of the world.
Don’t believe him. He is always being a liar.
I haven’t finished my assignment yet. I don’t have enough materials.
You must do it right now. It’s very urgent.
I feel attracted to her. Her voice is very sweet.
V. Rewrite these sentences by using BECAUSE OF.
She can’t work hard because she is very old.
He likes her because she is very beautiful.
He couldn’t go to school because he was very poor.
I can’t buy this bike because I don’t have enough money.
He broke the vase because he was careless.
He failed the exam because he didn’t learn the lessons carefully.
We can’t go for a walk because it rains heavily.
He left school because his life was hard.
She was very happy because she was given a new bike.
I went to bed early because I felt tired.
VI. Supply either BECAUSE or BECAUSE OF as appropriate.
It was difficult to deliver the letter ………… the wrong address.
We have to cut down on our driving ………….. there is an oil shortage.
