Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Solving environmental problems should be the responsibilities of one international organization instead of state or national governments. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
As General Secretary of United Nations Association Kofi Anna said “Keep in mind that regardless of origins, races, cultures and religions; we all share the same native land- an isolated and tiny planet where we live closely to each other. We should be determined to join efforts together and do the best to bring general sake for the concord and peaceful life between peoples in all over the world”. Under this light, it is justifying to say that solving environmental problems should fall into the hands of not only national government but also international one. There are some arguments available for this.
The first question that should be considered is what’s the source of environmental problems? No doubt, they stem from human behaviors. Which have unavoidably led to many environmental hazards that we sadly don`t have the luxury to wait for better times. And this occurs all around the world; therefore, they must be faced up with on a global scale.
Admittedly, there are already existing solutions and technologies to solve most environmental problems. However, solutions and technologies are not all what we need but the willpower and leadership to change the status and, most of all, the sense of self-discipline in each person. That is a matter of changing lifestyle towards a more environmentally friendly one. Ideally, when everyone swifts from using traditional paper to those made of renewable materials, started accepting recycled material and factories will stop cutting tress, reducing deforestation.
Meanwhile, governments should take many measures to address problems confined to their own countries by subsidizing financial backing for public transport, putting stiff penalties on factories which release carbon-dioxide, harmful chemical waste; it would go a long way in solving the problem of environment.
Nevertheless, as a proverb well said ‘0ne hand can’t make a sound’; most environmental problems are caused by human behaviors globally; it is less likely for them to be solved by relying on the efforts of few countries. This is the case that global warming is supposed to result from the increased greenhouse gas emission worldwide. If only few countries reduce their emissions accompanied by continuous pollution of other countries, this phenomenon will by no means disappear. Furthermore, granted that all countries can pull their weightts voluntarily, addressing this problem internationally can rise more funding and bring together specialists of broader fields, thereby, the big environmental concerns are surely tackled effectively.
With all this taken into account, it is believed, if the host country can support and state their difficulties to world organizations and collaborate, it will assist to solve problems. Global systems have been always neutral in their work and everyone believes in them which may help for fruitful results. (377 words)
