In a lot of countries , there are laws limitting the amount of smoke which factories can produce although there is not enough information on the effects of smoke on the atmosphere . Doctors have proved that air pollution causes lung diseases . The gases from the exhausts of cars have also increased air pollution in most cities . The lead of petrol produces a poisonous gas , which is often collected in busy streets circled by high buildings .Children who live in areas where there is a lot of lead in the atmosphere can not think as quickly as other children , and are clumsy when they use their hands .

Air pollution occurs when wastes dirty the air. People produce most of the wastes that cause pollution. Such wastes can be in the form of gases or particles of solid or liquid matter. These substances result cheaply from burning fuel to power motor vehicles and to heat buildings . Industrial processes and the burning of garbage also contribute to air pollution. Natural pollutants include dust, pollen, soil particle, and naturally occurring gases.
