Wish statements
Aim:
Reviewing the usage of the past simple and modal with “wish”.
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to understand about the usage of “wish” clearly, compare with the past simple tense and modal.
Teaching aids:
Lesson plan, pictures.
Procedures:
Steps/ activities
Work arrangement
*Revision: Past simple with : “wish’
- Ask students to review the usage of “wish”. Give an example.
- T helps them and explains more.
- Review the form.
- Teacher gives examples.
- Students work in pairs and speak about their thinking with “wish”.
Let some pairs stand up and speak aloud.
- Teacher follows and corrects.
* Revision: Modal could with wish.
- Ask students to review the modal they have learnt.
- Students give the example.
- Teacher says about the usage and form of modals with “wish”
*Modal could with wish:
- Explain more about it.
- T shows a flash card, get students to do the sentences.
- Follows and guides.
- Let some students do the exercise. T and the others correct.
- Sts write the answer on the board.
*Consolidation:
* Group work:
- Ask students to work in groups then say about the works they do, they want and don’t want to wish.
- Some students speak aloud.
- T follows and correct.
* Homework:
Ask students to write about what they wish.
- I wish I flied.
- She wishes she passed the exam.
- They wish they had a new house.
Form: S + wish / wishes + S + V(sp).
To be: were
1. What does he wish?
- He wishes he had a new shirt.

2. I wish I taller.
a. to be b. is c. was d. were
3. Nam and mai wish they to the city.
a. to go b. go c. goes d. went
Ex: I wish I could be there.
She wishes she could fly.
