1. Phrases of purpose.
Affirmative purpose: In order to / so as to / to + bare infinitive.
Negative purpose: In order not to / so as not to / not to + bare infinitive.
She saves a lot of money in order to buy a house.
2. Modal will to make requests, offers and promises.
Will you open the door, please?
Will you have a glass of lemon juice?
I promise I will come on time.
3. Passive forms.
People play football all over the world.
Football is played all over the world.
4. Adjective followed by an infinitive and a noun clause.
She is happy to get her parents’ letter.
She is happy that you come to her birthday party.
5. –ed and –ing participles.
The boy standing at the school-gate is Tom.
The rice cooker made in Japan is very good.
