PROJECT PROPOSAL
ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE OF NURSING PROFESSION FOR 300 NURSING STUDENTS IN 6 NURSING SCHOOLS IN THE PERIOD 2008-2009.

PLACE SETTING
This project will conduct in 4 nursing secondary schools, 1 nursing college, and 1 University of medicine including Lam Dong, Dong Thap, Phu Yen, Vung Tau, Bac Lieu, and Pham ngoc Thach, respectively. Those 6 schools are the government-operated schools and train for secondary nurse.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE


300 nursing students studying at 6 schools of nursing in the period 2008-2009 have more knowledge and positive attitude towards nursing profession by 9/2009.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

1.100% nursing students studying in 6 schools of nursing will participate in the competition that provide useful information about nursing profession
2. 95% nursing students will have more knowledge and positive attitude towards nursing profession after paticipating the competition.
SIGNIFICANT OF PROBLEM
Nurse is a profesion related to health reconstitition, protection, and promotion for clients, clients’family and community.
In the world, nursing profession are developed with high proficiency and standard.
Nurse in Vietnam began later than medical profession nearly 1 century.
SIGNIFICANT OF PROBLEM
Nursing instructors who teach and supervise in school and hospitals are mainly medical doctor.
Recently, nurse in Vietnam has significant changes however, it still remains some below problems.
SIGNIFICANT OF PROBLEM
+ knowledge that nursing students study in school differ from the real situation when they work after graduation.
+ society, doctor, other medical workers have negative attitude towards nursing profession.

SIGNIFICANT OF PROBLEM
Nurses who work in hospitals do not have right thinking about nursing profession.
Many nursing students are turnover because of lacking knowledge about nursing profession.
Those above reasons lead us to do this project.

TARGET POPULATION(SAMPLE)

Population(sample) are 300 nursing students studying in 6 schools of nursing.
METHOD
To investigate knowledge of nursing students before intervention.
To raise a competition that stimulate nursing students to learn more about nursing profession.
To organize a competition that provide useful information about nursing profession.

METHOD OF INTERVENTION
To choose full time nursing students studying in 6 schools of nursing.
To create a questionaire to investigate knowledge of nursing students about nursing profession.

METHOD OF INTERVENTION
To examine nursing students’ knowledge by questionaire before intervention.
To made a list and address of material relating to nursing as well as content of propaganda about nursing profession.

METHOD OF INTERVENTION
Provide list and address of material, content of propaganda, and launch a competition to nursing students.
To organize competition about nursing profession. At the end of competition, a presentation about nursing profession will be presented to advertise nursing profession.

METHOD OF INTERVENTION
To collect and analyze date by Excel sofeware.
To write report and present it at the fourth conference.

PLANNING

Stage 1: to explore problem and write project proposal, as well as develop instrument for collect data.
Satge 2: To launch a competition that stimulate nursing students to learn more about nursing profession.

STAGE 1:

1.to investigate level of knowledge of nursing students about nursing profession.

Time: doing before 15/03/2009.

STAGE 2:

Target: nursing students studying in 6 schools of nursing.
Method:
Made a list and address of material that provide information about nursing profession.
cooperate with hcm communist youth team, department of nursing, supervisor of every class to launch a competition about nursing profession.
Time: doing before 10/04/09.
STAGE 3:

Target: group students are intervented
Method:
Plan competition.
Collaborate with nursing association in province and hcm youth group tp organize competition.
STAGE 3:

Present the content of propaganda that refers to the answer of the competition.
Use questionaire to examine knowledge of bursing sudnt about nursing profession.
Time: doing before 12/05/09.

STAGE 4:

Using Excel sofeware to analyse data.
Analysing data.
Writing result and report , then submit for Ms.Luu before 31/08/2009.
Reporting result of project: conference 4.

Do not have much free time to do after conference because of members’ workload.

SIGNIFICANT AND SUCCESS

Widen vision for nursing students, increase knowledge of nursing students about nursing profession.
Advertise nursing profession and LFC course.
Results of this project will provide some basic information for school administrators and leaders in strategies planning to improve quality of nursing profession and increase recruitment.
