Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son learnt to play chess by watching his parents in their home. His parents were surprised that Son understood how to play because little Truong Son was only three years old at the time. Although chess is a difficult game, a month later he beat his parents at their favourite game. At the age of four, Truong Son took part in the national young chess championship.
