When I was a child, children often disliked wearing school uniform but teachers were interested in it because they said all of us looked alike. Otherwise, they said, children would compete with each other and the poorer children would be ashamed because people would see straight away how poor they were. In recent years, however, many schools have given up the idea of making children wear unform but, funnily enough, getting that children can wear what they like, they have chosen a uniform of their own.
