 I. Title
Effects of Protein Content on the Reproduction of Snakeskin Gourami
II. The Importance of the Study
The snakeskin gourami (Trichogaster pectoralis Regan, 1909), one of the important food fish currently, is found in the natural habitat in the waters of Southeast Asia and particularly in the South of Vietnam. Today it is widely bred in many other places.
It is observed that certain (Trichogaster pectoralis) species show heterogeneity in the growth of their egg cells, and interruption or extension of their reproductive periods. However, their reproduction depends on other factors such as the rainfall, temperature, food, and light. For the  parent fish in the breeding habitat, the role of food and especially of the  protein content is extremely crucial to the sexual growth of the ovary.
 Therefore, it is necessary to find out kinds of food providing protein  content suitable to the fish reproduction. This will help fish cultivators  reduce costs, breed quality young fish and guarantee their quantities at the  same time.
   III. Orientation of research targets
  Short-term: to evaluate how food protein content affect the quality and  quantity of the eggs laid by the snakeskin gourami (Trichogaster pectoralis)
  Long-term: to reduce production costs and to improve economic values gained by the breeders.
    IV. Research content
  Studying the effects of protein content on:
    - Reproduction
     - Periods of sexual growth
      - Rate of insemination, egg hatching and birth of young fish
   V. Expected results
  A kind of food with protein content suitable for high reproduction will be chosen.
   VI. Research applicability
  The research findings will be applied to food establishments, breeding centers and households in the countryside.
