Mệnh đề trạng ngữ
Khi trong câu có 2 mệnh đề có sự phụ thuộc lẫn nhau chúng ta gọi đó là câu phức. Câu phức gồm có một mệnh đề mang thông tin chính (gọi là mệnh đề chính) và một mệnh đề mang thông tin bổ sung. Ngoài các mệnh đề phụ tính ngữ (bắt đầu bằng các đại từ quan hệ) chúng ta còn một dạng mệnh đề phụ nữa (bắt đầu bằng các liên từ Because, because of, even though, although, though, so hoặc since ta gọi là mệnh đề trạng ngữ.Mệnh đề trạng ngữ thường có những loại sau:

BECAUSE / BECAUSE OF * ALTHOUGH / DESPITE
