I. Introduction
Located nearly 50 kilometers northwest from Buon Ma Thuot City, Buon Don is home to the M’Nong, J’rai, Ede, Kinh, Lao and Thai ethnic minority groups. And for over two centuries, Buon Don is known for job hunting and taming wild elephants. Buon don become a famous tourism brand in Vietnam.
Buon Don is a Lao name, meaning “island village” as it is near many islets in the Serepok River.
Buon Don district was separated from Ea Sup district and a part of Buon Ma Thuot city from October 17, 1995.
The history of Buon Don
Buon Don is the name of the newly formed district, also is the former name Ban Don (Lao old).

With basalt soil, Buon Don is very suitable for industrial crops such as coffee, cocoa, pepper and mulberry. Rubber and cashew are also being developed here. Coffee is the most important industrial plants in Buon Don.
And mining bauxite.

The climate in Buon Don is divided into two distinguished seasons: The cold season (from November to April) and the hot season (from May to October), which in March and April are the driest and hottest months.

Buon Don is known with red soil way, fresh air, have sun and wind.

The people of Buon Don are good-natured and homely.
Unity in labor and production
Buon Don`s girls is very beautiful, a wild beauty and very charming, sunburnt skin with cheeks always red in the sun.

On summer holidays, after a trip to the sea, you can travel to the highlands to discover nature and breathe the air of the forests. Buon Don Town in Buon Ma Thuot City in the highlands province of Daklak is a nice country retreat.

Buon Don has Serepok river flows through the vast forests. An area known for job hunting and taming wild elephants.
To the Buon Don is coming to a land with clean and pure, romantic landscapes and lyrical.
Especially the house on stilts with cattle roaming around.
But everywhere, cool and clean.

Buon Don has a potential to contain cultural tourism and biodiversity by Yok Don National Park,Cu Min forest, DakMin Lake and cultural villages.

To the Buon Don, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Island Village, also a suspension bridge, watching waterfall, enjoy the special dishes of the Central Highlands, and communal house.

Four kilometers from Ban Don is Buon Don Tourist Area. For about 80,000VND for three people, you can ride an elephant around for about fifteen minutes, to sightseeing village life. If you have time and feel adventurous, you can hire an elephant to cross the Serepok River, go to Yok Don National Park.

Ruou can ( wine drunk out of a jar through pipes) is very popular among the highlanders, especially in Tay Nguyen. It is drunk on several occasions: Tet, festival, wedding parties, ground-breaking ceremonies or other festive days.

Do not forget to enjoy a cup of coffee when you come to Buon Don.
There are many stories about Buon Don’s history and customs of hunting and taming elephants. In March, tourists can join an elephant race festival.
When night comes, the music and dancing begins. Sitting around a fire, people play "Cong, Chieng" and bamboo instruments. After a day of elephant racing and a night of dancing, we will sleep deeply in our stilt house beds.
