BEYOND LANGUAGE

India is an average Asian country with 3,287,263 square kilometers, and about 762,000,000 people. The capital is Newdeli which lies near the North of India. Almost the North bolder adjoins the mainland, and the rest half is with ocean that named the Indian Ocean. Together with these objective advantages, Indian has the long history of the absorption of customs, traditions and ideas.
The country still conserves many precious spirit and material heritages of human being which relate to fields as religion, science, architecture, ceremonies, etc….The place which is native country of many great man who have great contributions for branches as moths, arts and letters, pharmacy, so on.
Coming to India, you not only have opportunities to enjoy sightseeing about new interesting things but also contact to friendly and hospital Indian. India people have simple life but rich spirit. Their lifestyle and belief have cross-culture with other countries in area. Generally, Indian culture has typical feature.
Furthermore, India is also the birth place of many religions such as: Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, etc…which has had a great influence to many countries in the world. Among those religions, the Hinduism is considered noticeable the most that effects in lifestyle of Indian, especially in marriage and wedding. Because there is no greater event in a family than a wedding, the Indian couple’s wedding is operated seriously and solemnly. They think that it shows out their typical tradition and also affects their long-life later. Now, we will present about traditional Hindu wedding.
In India, there are hundreds of ways of celebrating marriage, due to the various religions (Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christian, and Muslim) and regions.
In India traditional Hindu weddings have many special customs









Several months before the wedding the families of both the bride and groom begin the preparations. The groom’s family always buys jewelries for the bride and gifts for the bride’s family. They also buy the bride’s wedding clothes which are traditionally red and gold in gold in color. The bride’s family always buys wedding clothes for the groom and they often provide a dowry









On the night before the ceremony, the bride’s sisters traditionally pain designs on the palms of her hands and on the soles of her feet. They use a natural dye from the henna plant








On the day of the ceremony, one of the groom’s brothers goes to the bride’s home with gifts. Then the groom arrives at the bride’s home with his family and his friends. He is dressed in rich clothing and he wears a special headdress and garland of flowers.







He usually arrives in a white car or on a white horse, but sometimes he rides a white elephant to his wedding. Then the wedding ceremony takes place.
During the ceremony the couple sits around a sacred fire under a special canopy, and they walk around the fire seven times. The groom makes seven promises: to make his wife happy, to share his feeling with her, to be faithful, to do respect her family, and to make her a part of his life. The seventh promise is to keep the other promises









The party begins after the ceremony. During the party, the bride, the groom, and their guests play some traditional games.
On the morning after the wedding, the bridge leaves her family’s house and goes with her new husband to his family’s house. It is both a happy and sad day.
