1.My most favourite subject
My most favourite subject is English which is today one of the most important languages in the world. It is spoken and understood in all parts of the earth.
English has become an international language for a variety of reasons. One of the most important is that the English people have been well-known for their knowledge of science, medicine, engineering, goverment and all other matters that are useful for the progress of the human race. It is because of the scientists of England that the motorengine has become the the most important manchine in the world today. In the same way, English scholars have studied the past and discovered many things of great value to the peoples of the world. Some of the things which were useful to men in the early days were later forgotten by others. Such things are now being used, owing to the work of English scholars. The insatiable thirst(2) for knowledge of the English scholars has contributed to the progress of man in almost all fields of his activity. Thousands of books have been written by such scholars on almost every subject that one can think of. Thus, people whose native tongue(3) is not English have learnt English with great interest as a means of all human affairs.
As a result of this interest English is used almost everywhere in the world. It is used in all the important meetings and conferences and debates(4) such as, in all the United Nations. It is also used in all the leading Universities in the world and in international trade and commerce(5). As it is used so widely, English has indeed become a very rich language. People of all the coutries of the world have contributed new ideas and thoughts to this language. Thus, more and more new words are being coined(6) to make this language more and more useful for the communication of ideas and information among the people of the world.
It is for all these reasons that I like to study the English language.
2. In your opinion, what is the most difficult skill of learning English?
1. Many English learners say that listening is more difficult than any other skills. But in my opinion, writing is the most difficult skill of learning English.
Firstly, writing requires good grammar. A non-native person has to remember a large number of rules in structure which are quite different from their own language.
Secondly, as we all know that people spend less time to write than to listen, to speak and even to read. Learners learning the language in their country are proved to read more than any other skills while learners learning overseas must listen to the language most of their time. In any cases, they spend little of their time for writing. It is clearly known that an average person spend the most for listening, the second most for speaking, then reading and finally writing.
Thirdly, when students of English as a foreign language write something, they have a big question in mind whether what they write is correct or incorrect. Who can answer the question for them and help them recognize the mistakes. It is, in many cases, the teacher who is teaching them and is ready to give them a hand. The problem however I want to mention is that the teacher does not have enough time to correct for all of them if there are more than ten students in the class. When the teacher corrects the writing for just some of them, the other students cannot recognize their own mistakes. Without correction, the mistakes may be repeated many times and become bad habits which are hard to adjust. In conclusion, writing is the most difficult skill that learners of any foreign language may face. To be good at it, learners must give much effort.
2. Learning a language is to learn how to get fluency in 4 skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. It`s not accidental that "Listening" is mentioned in the first position in these four skills. Is it true that it is the most difficult skill of learning English?
In my opinion, listening is really the most difficult skill. In fact, it requires us a continuous effort. However, before we decide to practise listening, we must have a basic knowledge of English grammar so that we can realise and understand what the natives are speaking. Therefore, "reading" and "writing" are also very important. They will help us to realise the right structure when listening to English.English language has been spoken, or read by many people in different area with different tones, therefore, if we don`t practise regularly with determination, it`s very difficult for us to understand spoken English. Therefore, we must practise listening English in all circumstances in life to understand and improve our speaking skill. We can`t speak English if we can`t listen to what people say. Moreover, listening require us a good reflexes while reading and writing don`t.For example,a student who can listen well may be fluent in writing and reading. But a student who is good in writing ang reading comprehension may not be good at
