Getting started - Listen and Read

Aims : - To intrduce the topic of Unit 1 by reading the text for details.
- To help Students to listen and read about Maryam’s visit.
- To isolate the new structure : the simple past with WISH.
Objective :
- By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to know about some places Lan went to with a foreign friend and some activities they took part in together.

_Educational aim:
+To help the students love their own country and their culture.
1. Language:
a. Vocabulary: Correspond, mosque, Islam, impress, friendliness, pray.

+Simple past with “Wish”

UNIT 1 : A VISIT FROM A PEN PAL
Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED +
LISTEN AND READ


I. Lead -in:
1.Sets the situation:
_Asks the students some questions:
+ Have you ever been to Ha Noi?
+ Can you tell me some interesting places in the capital?
2.Presents the new lesson:
_Shows each picture and ask the students:
+Which place is it?


_Introduces the situation: A foreign pen pal is coming to stay with you for a week.What activities would you do during the visit?
_Tells the aim of the lesson . ”Today you will read a text about some activities which Lan and her friend,Maryan did when Maryan visited Ha Noi capital last year.”
“First of all you will study some new words.”
II. Pre-Practice:
1.Teaches new words:
_Teaches word by word following the principle and steps of teaching the new words.
* New words:
+ Mosque (n) [Using Picture]
+ Islam (n) [Translation]
+ To correspond (v) [Translation]
+ To impress (v) [Translation]
+ To Pray (v) [Gesture]
+ Friendliness (n) [Example]
Ex : Ba and Nam are close friends.Their friendliness is good.
2.Checks the understanding of the new words,using “Slap the board”
3.Introduces the new structure:
+ Simple past with “Wish”
Ex: I wish you had a longer vacation.
_ Asks the students to formulate the structure.

1.Practise reading:
_Turns on the tape two times and asks the students to listen to.
_Calls one or two students to read the text again.
2.Gives the questions and asks the students to answer.

c. Did Maryan want to visit Ha Noi again?
3.Chooses the correct option to complete the sentences.
_Asks the students to read the text in silence and choose the correct option.


_Calls some students to read their option.
_Corrects their mistakes.
