You have received a letter from a foreign friend who moved to your country a month ago and is having difficulty adjusting to the new surroundings. Write a letter advising her how to deal with the situation. Yoy should offer certain practical suggestions and reassure her that she needs not to worry.
Dear Mary,
I’m delighted to receive your letter and really sympathetic to hear about your problem you’ve encountered in my country. I hope the following advice will be of some help to you.
It is very common for a foreigner to face language barrier which certainly gives you much trouble in communicative circumstances. Firstly, I would suggest that you try enrolling a short-term Vietnamese course at any centres in this city. I’ll enclose some prestige centre’ address, which facilitate you in finding an appropriate one in terms of location and course fee. Besides, it would be a good idea if you possess a bilingual book including simple pronunciation instructions for learners.
With respect to your neighbors, I think you should try finding a Vietnamese friend who has a good command of English. I’m sure that you feel more confident to open your heart about your work and daily life. Moreover, why don’t you participate in various clubs such as dancing and music ones. You can seek different customs on the Internet, which enhances your understanding about my country’s culture.
Hope this piece of advice helps you . Please write to me again.
Best wishes,
